Myrtle Mary McCoy

Myrtle Mary Mccoy, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 2, 2025 in Mathis, Texas. Born on October 23, 1929, Myrtle was the epitome of warmth and dignity, always carrying herself with elegance and grace. She was passionately devoted to her beloved husband, Adrian Harrison McCoy, who preceded her in death in 2013. They shared a loving marriage of 65 years, having wed on February 5, 1948 at the St. Patrick's Cathedral in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Myrtle's life was marked by a deep commitment to her faith, her family, and her community. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she brought a nurturing presence to all who knew her. Myrtle was a proud graduate of Our Lady of Victory High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where she earned summa cum laude honors. She worked for ten years at Corpus Christi State National Bank, where her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic earned her the respect of all who worked with her.

Beyond her career, Myrtle had a rich array of interests that she pursued with passion. An avid sports enthusiast, she excelled in basketball as team captain, and enjoyed aerobics, tennis, golf, and swimming throughout her life. Myrtle was also a talented cook and lover of gardening, hobbies that brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her love with those around her.  

A devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Myrtle attended services in both Sinton and  Mathis, Texas. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing comfort, guidance, and a sense of belonging with her close-knit community.

Myrtle is survived by her Children: Pat (Sandra) McCoy, Mike (Liz)  McCoy, Mark (Vicki) McCoy, Bob (Cathy) McCoy, Camille McCoy, and Melissa (Ron) Wheaton. She was affectionately known as "Nona" to her 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her deeply. Myrtle will be remembered for her boundless love, her strength, and the way she made everyone feel special and cared for.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Harrison Reynolds and Mary Biondi Reynolds, and her brother, Thomas Eugene Reynolds.

Visitation will be at 6pm and Holy Rosary at 7pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church. Services to honor and celebrate Myrtle's life will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 217 S. San Patricio Ave, in Mathis, Texas, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas at 2:00 pm. 

Pallbearers will be Justin Polasek, Dustin McCoy, Travis McCoy, Robert McCoy II, Kaden McCoy, and Karsen McCoy, Charlie Brockenbush .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or a charity of your choice in Myrtle's memory.

Myrtle's legacy of love, faith and grace will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her.
