Rachel Naomi Smith Kolb went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2012. Rachel's family moved to Sinton, Texas from Richland Center, WI in 1906. She was born in Sinton on July 23, 1915 to Orville and Olive Smith and lived in San Patricio County all her life. She married Luther Thomas Kolb Sr. on November 9, 1936. They were owners of L.T. Kolb Chevrolet Company in Taft and Portland for many years.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband Luther Thomas Sr., her eldest son L.T. Kolb Jr., and her siblings Constance Horton, Orville Smith, John Smith and Frances DeVilbiss. Also at the age of 90 her twin sister Esther Olive Blagg died.
She was a faithful member of the Portland Church of Christ. Rachel enjoyed traveling the world and playing bridge. She loved everyone she met. In her later years she particularly enjoyed spending time with her younger great grandchildren.
Rachel is survived by her three sons John E. (Joy) of Goliad, Charles D. (Sherry) of Portland, and Danny E. Kolb of Corpus Christi. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren Carol (John) Carpenter of Littleton, CO, Joe Kolb of Providence Village, TX, Susan (Mac) Dunwoody of Carmel, CA, Jay (Jeanie) Kolb of Shanghai, Paul (Susan) Kolb of Ruidoso, NM, Joy Ellen (Mike) Klepacki of Chicago, IL, Ann Rachel (Jay) Cuclis of Hong Kong, Jonathan (Aleisha) Kolb, LeAnn (Troy) Snody both of Portland, and Melissa (Alfonso) Palacios of Williamsburg, VA.
Her nineteen great grandchildren are Morgan Carpenter, Christopher (Casey) Kolb, Jeremy Kolb, Katy (Rafet) Ducic, Courtney Dunwoody, Macomb Dunwoody, David (Mary-Cathryn) Kolb, Emily (Clayton) Forswall, John Klepacki, Todd Klepacki, Sara Klepacki, Mary Cuclis, Paul Cuclis, Nathan Kolb, Emily Kolb, Madison Snody, Charles Hudson Snody, Turner Snody and Gabriel Palacios.
Her seven great-great grandchildren are Aldin Ducic, Emma Kolb, Madison Kolb, Kaetlyn Kolb, and Allison Kolb and twins Cathryn-Rose and Mary-Grace Kolb.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
They family is very grateful to her close friends and caregivers; Gina Caldwell, Mary, Cindi, Cora, Janie, and Nellie.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Kolb, Troy Snody, Bill Moody, Preston Cave, Cal Jennings, and Pat Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfonso Palacios and John Henry Pruitt.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Friday, January 6, 2012 also at the Limbaugh Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Sinton Cemetery.
