Ramon V. Garcia Sr., age 58, of Gregory, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Ramon, affectionately known as Panson by close family, was born on September 22, 1964, to Maria Vasquez.
He will be remembered most for his two great loves: fishing and family.
A devoted son, Ramon enjoyed spending time with his mother, Maria, where the two could often be found bickering over a pot of coffee. He was happiest when fishing with his children, brothers-in-law, and cousin- although they often fed more fish than they caught. He also loved gathering his large family for Saturday night Barbeques and Sunday morning breakfasts. In his younger days, he could often be found dancing to Tejano music with friends and family. He also enjoyed hunting and tinkering with projects around the house.
Ramon spent over 25 years with Eddie Garza Security, where he was proudly known as "Captain," and his coworkers became family. He often told stories of his workdays and adventures, including the time he was chased up a tree by a wild hog while on patrol.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Juan and Estanislada Vasquez, great aunt Estefana Rosalez, granddaughter Mya Garcia, and great nephew Juan Jimenez III.
Left to cherish his memories: his mother, Maria R. Vasquez; sisters, Carmen (Johnny) Pereida, with nieces Salena and Victoria, and Amy (Juan) Jimenez, with nephews Juan Pablo and Lukas; sons Ramon (Tara) Garcia Jr. with grandsons Jordan, Camren, Kody, Landon, and Tanner; Roger Garcia with grandchildren Brooke, Halley, Rojelio Jr., Adrian, and Madylin; and Ramiro Garcia with grandchildren (Tiffani Coomer) Ramiro Jr. and Jayleen, (Tasha) Gabi, Damian, Alexzander, and Jaxson; daughter Daniella Hinojosa with grandchildren Mariah and Jayden; and his beloved guard dog Grego.
Ramon Garcia leaves behind an unfillable void but a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by those that love him.
He will be escorted to his final resting place by Ralph Hernandez, Johnny Pereida, Jesse Vasquez Jr., Jesse Sanchez, Mikey Ortiz, and Joey Davila.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
