Raul R. Martinez, a devoted family man and respected member of his community, passed away on November 16, 2024, in Skidmore, Texas, at the age of 83. Born on April 30, 1941, in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Raul dedicated much of his life to ranching and farming, a testament to his strong work ethic and love for the land. His daughters often assisted him in his endeavors, demonstrating the close-knit bond he fostered within his family.

Raul was known for his robust personality, marked by both strength and a remarkable love for his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with his family, finding joy and fulfillment in nurturing their relationships. His legacy as a caring husband and father will be cherished by those he leaves behind.

Raul was an avid fisherman and loved the game of dominos.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Maria Martinez, and their four daughters: Raquel Daiz (Luis), Sylvia Medrano, Rosa Garcia (Joe), and Claudia Rivera (Tony). Raul also leaves behind his son, Raul Martinez Jr., 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to experience his love and guidance. In addition to his immediate family, Raul is survived by five sisters: Adelina Guajardo, Simona Montano, Christina Gutierrez, Evangelina Lazo, and Adelfa Montemayor, as well as his brother, Damien Martinez.

Raul was predeceased by his parents, Simon and Adelina R. Martinez, his brother, Rafael Martinez, his sister, Candelaria Montemayor, and two sons-in-law, Tony Medrano and Raymond Rocha.

Visitation will be held at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas, on Tuesday,  November 26, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place  Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM, also at Winstead's Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore at 11:00 AM.

Pallbearers will be Adam Perez, Leoncio Del Fierro Jr, Arturo Del Fierro, Marcos Alvarado, Christopher Medrano, Andrew Medrano, Edward Alvarado Jr. Honorary Pallbearer will be Raul Martinez Jr.

Raul R. Martinez will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and community but also for the warmth and love he brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will endure in the hearts of all who loved him.
