Raylana Ramirez Garcia, a cherished educator and beloved family member, departed this world on February 23, 2025 in her hometown of Mathis, Texas, at the age of 53. Born on July 22, 1971, in Sinton, Texas, Raylana exemplified the spirit of generosity and compassion throughout her life, dedicating 29 years to the noble profession of teaching. Her profound impact on the lives of her students was a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and her genuine care for others.

Raylana possessed a vibrant personality characterized by her love for her family, friends, and the community. She was renowned for her kindness and warmth, fostering connections that resonated deeply with those fortunate enough to know her. A multifaceted individual, she found joy in crafting and music, skillfully playing several instruments, which spoke to her creative spirit and passion for self-expression.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Ellena De La Fuente; her devoted sister, Diane Narvaez; and her supportive brother, Thomas Polanco. Raylana’s heart also held a special place for her cousins—Cecil, Mikey, Andrew, Robbie, and Roel—who cherished her as if she were their own sister. The bonds they shared illustrated the depth of her nurturing nature and are a true reflection of the love she garnered throughout her life.

Raylana was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Lino and Thomasa Gutierrez, along with her brothers, Robert and Rudy Gutierrez. Their legacy undoubtedly shaped the remarkable individual she became, one whose kindness and dedication will continue to inspire those left behind.

The services honoring Raylana's life will commence with a Visitation at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Mass celebrating her life will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis at 10:00 AM.

Pallbearers will be Michael Perez, Andrew Perez, Cecil Perez, Robby Gutierrez, Robert Gonzalez and Gilbert Echavarria. 

In the hearts of her family and friends, Raylana Ramirez Garcia will forever be remembered not only as a devoted teacher but as a beacon of love and compassion. Her memory will be a guiding light for all who had the privilege to share in her life’s journey.
