Raymond P. Malish, Jr.

Ray Peter Malish Jr., 77, left this world peacefully on January 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Ray was born on July 26, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Raymond Peter Malish Sr. and Hermina Brezina Malish. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas where he developed a strong work ethic, even stronger faith, and a deep love for his family. After graduating from Ray High School, he went on to pursue a career as a diesel mechanic and a millwright eventually being promoted to a plant supervisor at Reynolds/Alcoa bauxite plant to which he dedicated himself for over 40 years.

A loving husband to Carol Malish, Ray was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together, they raised three children: Tara, Raymond (Troy), and Luke. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance and love, grounded in faith.

Ray worked hard and played harder having many passions in life. He loved to have a good time, dance holes in his boots, play dominoes and taroks.

Ray profoundly enjoyed hunting and fishing but never let that get in the way of going to mass every Sunday. There wasn’t anything that needed a nail, a screw, or a bolt that he couldn’t fix. In all these things, he enjoyed teaching, the time shared together and the conversations the most.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children Tara, Troy, Luke, and his grandchildren Sophia, Jake, Joe, Hermina, Abigail, Matthew, Luke, Elise, and Hannah. He is also survived by his siblings Margie Stamp, Rose Poynter, and Elizabeth Hill, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 p.m. at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, with a Rosary to be recited at 12:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. There will be a celebration at Landry’s Seafood House, Buffet Supper at 5:00 p.m.
