Reyna Juanita Padron, 74, Portland TX, went to be with her Lord and heavenly family on November 1st 2022.

 

Reyna was born on June 24th 1948 to parents Arcadio & Petra Padron in Kenedy TX. The family relocated to Taft TX where Reyna was able to attend Taft High School, graduating in 1966, “Go Greyhounds!”

 

 Reyna, who for a period of time went by the name “Janie,” worked as a data processor for various companies such as CP&L, HEB and the Department of Corrections for Nueces County, while simultaneously devoting herself to her true dedication as a loving wife and mother. She graced family, friends and co-workers with her witty humor, beautiful laughter, easily shared friendship and love in abundance. Reyna’s hobbies included cooking for family & friends, shopping antique & boutique stores, becoming a skilled collector of purses and riding her adult tricycle throughout her neighborhood, waving its tall orange safety flag to all who spotted her, especially along Sunset Lake.

 

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Guadalupe Ramon, her second husband, Fernando “Ferna” LaFuente, her parents and four siblings; Arcadio Padron Jr, Alice Hernandez, Adela De La Torre, and Maria Padron.

 

She is survived by two sisters; Petra “Patsy” Casares, Irma Guajardo (Eleazar), her children; Cynthia Walker (Ben), Jose Ramon (Elizabeth). Also, her grandchildren; B. Houston Walker, Reyna Ryan (Nicholas), Anna Marie Walker, William Walker, Caleb Walker, Violet Ramon, Luke Ramon. Not to be excluded, her adopted cat, “Mister Handsome,” for no stray cat in her neighborhood went unfed.

 

Reyna will always be remembered as loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to those blessed to walk with her during her earthly journey.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8th 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Winsteads' Funeral Home (500 Wildcat Dr, Portland, TX 78374) with a rosary being prayed from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 9th 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (1008 Austin St., Portland, TX 78374) immediately followed by a burial service at the Palms Memorial Gardens (4335 Co Rd 3567, Taft, TX 78390).
