Richard Walter Fiedler

Richard Walter Fiedler Jr. went home to Jesus on January 24, 2024 at age 76.

Richard was born to Richard Sr. and Mildred Fiedler on July 4, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, he loved spending time on the water and loved to ski.  

Richard met his wife, Sue in 1989 through a mutual friend. They married two years later on July 27, 1991 and moved to Portland, Texas with her youngest of 3 children.  

In addition to being a dedicated and loving father, Richard also loved working on his vehicles, staying actively involved in the Portland Lions Club, and holding various volunteer roles at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. Richard managed Portland Pest Control for 30 years and was well known in the community as “the bug man.”  Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Richard joins his parents, Richard Sr. and Mildred, his sister, Janice, and nephew, Erwin in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his children, Michelle, Stephen and Jeffrey, his nieces, Lori and Linda, his nephew, Laine, 8 great nieces and nephews, and 6 grandchildren.

Visitation will be be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2024 at St. Christopher's By The Sea Church. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher’s By the Sea Episcopal Church
