Roberto S. Gonzales

Roberto S. Gonzales, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on October 12 2024, in Mathis, Texas. He was born on March 28, 1970, in Beeville, Texas to Roberto U. and Amelia Gonzales. Roberto was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Severo and Paula Salinas; paternal grandparents, Octaviano and Adelmira Gonzales. Their memories remain intertwined with Roberto’s life and legacy.

Roberto dedicated numerous years of his life serving as a sergeant for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. His dedication to his career was matched only by his love for family and friends. Roberto cherished the moments spent in the company of his loved ones, always prioritizing time with them above all else.

He is survived by his devoted parents; his sons, Andrew Gonzales, Eric Nathan Gonzales, and Devon Ballard; his sister, Monica (Mario Jr.) Morales; and his cherished nephews, Trey and Micah Morales. Roberto also leaves behind numerous aunts and uncles who will remember him fondly.

His warmth and welcoming nature made all those who knew him feel at ease. Roberto had a wonderful sense of humor that brightened many lives, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis. A Mass in celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by interment at Cenizo Hill Cemetery.

Roberto S. Gonzales leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humor, and unwavering dedication to family and service. His spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all those who loved him.
