Roberto Peña, Sr.

FEBRUARY 18, 1932 – MARCH 19, 2023

Roberto passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at his hospital bedside.

Roberto was born on February 18, 1932 in Portland, TX to Victoria and Guadalupe Peña.   The Portland native was a loving, selfless man, committed to his family, friends and the Gregory-Portland Wildcats.  He had a love for sports, watching many football and baseball games as well as professional games with his sons.  He was happiest when surrounded by what mattered most to him, family.  A hard working father, Roberto worked in the construction field at Brown and Root and Reynolds.

Roberto is survived by his three sons, Roland Peña (Sandy), Roman Peña (LaVern) and Roberto Peña, Jr. (Mary), three sisters, Nena De La Garza, Alicia Trevino and Amelia Castillo.  He has 8 grandkids Brandon Sirmans (Kirstin), Brian Perez (Alicia), RJ Peña, Myra and Nadia Peña, Rodney Garza, Roberto Peña III, Ryan Peña, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Siblings (deceased) are Ramiro, Raul, Ruben and Aurora (Buddy) Peña. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 23rd at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, TX. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 24th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland.  Burial will follow at the Palms Memorial Garden in Taft.
