Rodolfo L. "Rudy" Rivera

Rodolfo (Rudy) Rivera, 66, went home to meet his Lord on November 6, 2012 after battling illness for the last year. Rudy was born in Robstown and raised in Corpus Christi. He is preceded in death by his father, Candelario Rivera; brother Ruben (Oscar) Rivera; and sister Maria Rivera Zaragosa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Alice Rivera, his sons, Rudy Rivera, Jr. and Ramsey Rivera; his mother Anita L. Rivera, two brothers Paul Rivera, Robert (Juanita) Rivera, and one sister Martha (Richard) Romero; 7 grandchildren Rudy (Lucy) Rivera III, Stephanie Lee Rivera, Zach Rivera, Lucas Rivera, Alyssa (Saright) Rivera Lemos, Ramsey Rivera, Jr , Alex Rivera; 3 great-grandchildren Klista Rivera, Kendall Rivera, Saright Limon.
Although Corpus Christi was his home, Portland, Texas holds a special place in his heart. Rudy went to Portland in 1964 as a new barber and quickly established a name for himself. He opened his own barber shop , Rudi's Key Kut, in 1977 and has been there ever since. During the last 48 years, he has touched many lives. He enjoyed serving his customers and considered them family. He loved to entertain his clientele with trivia, historical facts, and interesting information that covered a wide variety of subjects. With scissors in hand he would always ask "Who's the boss?" Rudy was hard working and dedicated to his customers. He cut hair until the very end. He was a jack of all trades and loved the outdoors. Cutting and collecting mesquite wood was a relaxing hobby of his.
Visitation will be held at Limbaugh Funeral Home, 500 Wildcat Dr. in Portland, TX. From 3p.m. to 9p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012. The funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m.Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Lindley will perform the service.
