Ronald Peter Beck, passed away doing what he loves best, working on his boat, June 7, 2017 at the age of 70. He was born on July 18, 1946 to Peter Beck and Alice Kelly Beck in Detroit, MI. He started working at an early age shining shoes in his father’s barber shop. He went to a Military High School and joined the Navy after graduation. He served on the USS Kitty Hawk between 1964 and 1968, during the Vietnam Campaign. During his work years he was a Top Producing Real Estate Broker, Salesman & Customer favorite, highly trusted Car Salesman, and an HVAC service man to name a few of his career positions before becoming a U. S. Merchant Marine Officer (Tug Boat Captain), 500 Gross Tons, Master of Towing Vessel. He retired in 2012.
Captain Ron was the dear husband and best friend of Jennifer Jones Beck of Ingleside on the Bay, TX. He is survived by his children, Michael S. Beck and adopted daughter, Christine L. Beck and their mother, Joanne (Jody) Beck. He is the loved step father of Jonathan Leritte of Citrus Heights, CA and Jeremy Leritte of Hanover, PA. He is preceded in death by his wife Janice (Corky) Beck (1998) and both of his parents. He was the proud brother of Suzie (Stanley) Beck Gordon of Redford, MI. He was the grandfather of Braden Beck.
Captain Ron did not give his friendship lightly, and when he took a liking to you, rest assured that Grizzly bear would always have your back! He reminded us to laugh at life, in spite of challenges, how to prioritize between our wants vs needs. He showed us to live, learn, and love life with 'perfect peace'. His smile, laugh, and charm would light up any room he entered. He was a tough-guy on the outside with a heart of gold for those he loved and adored. Most specifically he was a model of honor, gentility, and chivalry to his wife Jennifer Jones Beck.
