Rudy Ruiz Jr.

Mr. Rudy Ruiz Jr. went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.  He was born on September 29, 1955 in Mathis, Texas to Rodolfo M. and Maria Anita Ruiz.  Mr. Ruiz is preceded in death by his Parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his Loving Wife, Emma Ruiz; Son, Roland (Rosalinda) Ruiz; Grandchildren, Marco, Mariano, Mariel, and Marlina Ruiz; Sister, Esmeralda Cortez; brothers, David (Kimberly) Ruiz, Robert (Tammy) Ruiz, Roel Ruiz, and several nieces and nephews. 

Rudy was a lifelong resident of Mathis and an active member of the community.  After attending the University of Texas in Austin, he returned home to marry his Junior High sweetheart Emma.  Rudy was a custom home builder along side his father in the Coastal Bend area.  He served multiple terms as a MISD school board member and president, a member of the Planning and Zoning committee, member and president of MISD athletic booster club, member of the Knights of Columbus, volunteered several years with the Christmas sharing appeal, as well as a member of the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas.

Rudy enjoyed spending time with friends and family, riding his motorcycles, camping, traveling and the Houston Astros.  After retirement, Rudy and his wife Emma, made the move to Harlingen, Texas where he could follow his sons coaching career and spend quality time with his grandchildren who he loved dearly.  

Visitation will be at 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Dobie Funeral Home.  Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church followed by interment at Cenizo Hill Cemetery.
