Salvador Cardona Ochoa died peacefully January 6, 2013 at his home surrounded by all his family. He was born July 6, 1916 to Ramon and Albina Ochoa. He retired from Power Equipment Sales & Service as a welder. He was also a mechanic. Salvador was a loving and gentle man who loved his family and God. He also loved to sing and play guitar with his brothers and sisters and his family and ever so often a love song to his wife and little tunes to all the babies that came into the family. Salvador was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Alfredo Ochoa, granddaughter Elaida Ochoa, sisters Esther Ramirez, Concepcion Canales, brothers Carlos Ochoa, Ramon Ochoa and Efrain Ochoa, son-in-law Ramiro Hernandez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Tomasa M. Ochoa, sons Salvador Ochoa Jr. (Alma), Ernesto Ochoa (Rita), Guadalupe Ochoa (Ramona), Cornelio Ochoa (Sylvia), Larry Ochoa (Yolanda), daughters Gloria O. Hernandez, Anita O. Saenz (Filemon), and Evelyn O. Nesmith (Raul), daughter-in-law Matiana Ochoa. 39 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, one brother Jesus Ochoa, sisters Josephina O. Canales (Pedro), Mary O. Arguijo (Al) all of Portland, Texas.
Visitation will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Palms Memorial Gardens.
