San Juana (Janie) Galvan passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 1 at 4:13 pm surrounded by loved ones. Janie was born in Agua Dulce, Texas on February 15, 1943. She was just two weeks shy of her 78th birthday. Janie was proceeded in death by her parents Porfirio and Santos Uribe, and her siblings Jesus, Alberto, Julian, Teresa Garza, Virginia Rodriguez, and Juanita (Isidro) Vela.
After graduating from Agua Dulce High School, Janie married her high school sweetheart, Luis. Shortly after her husband enlisted in the United States Air Force, Janie and Luis were stationed in Santa Maria, California where they began their life together. After welcoming their eldest daughter into the world, the new family moved to Gregory, Texas, where they remain. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Luis R. Galvan, their three children Deborah (David) Salinas, Richard (Maggie) Galvan, and Patricia Galvan; grandchildren Steven, Jessica, Sean, Victoria, Emerald, Beverly, Benjamin, Alexis, Caleb, and Gabs; as well as her 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her more than life itself.
Janie worked for the Gregory Portland Independent School District for 31 years before retiring. She enjoyed spending her days alongside her love at their little spot of paradise in Lagarto, Texas, or being amongst her family.
Janie was known for her stylish outfits, electric smile, and for her love of her family. She was loved by anyone she met and is already missed beyond belief.
