Shirley Mae Weaver Bryan, 99, passed away on May 13, 2024 in Katy, TX. She was born on December 22, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married a dashing Navy man, Tom Bryan, in April 1945 and they remained married for 66 years until his passing in 2011.
Shirley and Tom lived in Lake City, Tx for 40 years. Tom had his “cantina” and she had her “ceramic house” where she spent many hours teaching and creating. Shirley was very artistic and enjoyed many years of oil painting, ceramics, and quilting. She was a Master Dollmaker and seamstress, creating and dressing dozens of hand painted porcelain dolls. She enjoyed traveling to “doll conventions” across the US with her friends. She also loved cooking with Tom for her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her son, Gerald Scott “Skipper” (Dayle) Bryan of Nixon, TX and her daughter-in-law, Ann Bryan of Bishop, TX. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Cynthia (Bill) Williams of Spicewood, TX; Tommy Bryan of Nixon, TX; Kimberley (Kevin) Sedwick of Chandler, AZ; Shelley (Jimmy) Trevino of Katy, TX; Kelley (Chris) Dalton of Sinton, TX; and Cantrell (Melodie) Bryan of Hockley, TX. Her great-grandchildren are Tyler Bryan, Cody Bryan, Breydon Sedwick, Chance Sedwick, Allen Theilen, Tyley Dalton, Nathan Trevino and Olivia Trevino.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Robert Weaver and Verna Ethel Myer; her husband of 66 years, Tomas Scott Bryan; her son, Clifford Gordon Bryan, and her siblings; Robert, Joyce, and twins Betty and Bonnie.
Shirley will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her beloved husband Tom at Cenizo Hills Cemetery in Mathis Texas.
