Susie Cortez Medina, 50, of Gregory, Texas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 02, 2023 in Portland, Texas. Susie was born in Taft, Texas to Nestor and Adelita Cortez on October 12, 1972.
She was preceded in death by her father Nestor Cortez, mother Adelita Cortez, sister Patricia Escobedo and brother Nestor Cortez.
Susie is survived by her husband Leon Medina; son Enrique Rodriguez, Jr., daughters Brianna Sanchez (Ramiro), Kayla Rodriguez (Isaiah) and Layla Rodriguez; one brother Ramiro Cortez (Cassandra); two sisters Ester Salas (Joe) and Norma Cortez; three grandsons Julio Castillo IV, Jayce Castillo, Eyan Sanchez; four granddaughters Leah Sinast, Mariana Garcia and Sadie Sanchez, and Adela Rodriguez.
Susie was a devoted mother and loved all her kids. Susie was especially devoted to her grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Her children and grandkids will love and miss her “Bigger than the rainbow.”
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory with interment to follow at Cementerio San Antonio, de Padua, Aransas Pass.
