Sylvia L. Joskiewich

Sylvia Slaughter Joskiewich passed away on August 7^th, 2022. She was born in California on May 28^th, 1968. When she was seven she joined the Slaughter family in Keithville Louisiana and was adopted by her parents a few short years later.

Sylvia had a great love for singing and the voice of an angel. If a song was playing she would soon be singing and trying to harmonize with the singer. She also enjoyed cooking and making homemade salsa for everyone. Another one of her hobbies was sewing and she enjoyed making clothing when she could.

About thirty years ago she moved to the city of Portland. She enjoyed this community and how close it was to the water and beach. This is where she raised her children, first her sons Braden and Jared, then when she married Dan she added Nicky and Toni. With this marriage she also found a great love for the Boston Red Sox.

Sylvia also loved being a grandmother. She would brighten up whenever she got to facetime Jaidyn or Haeden. When they visited she was so filled with joy. Those were some of her happiest moments.

She had the biggest heart, and would listen to anyone. She would do whatever she could to ease the pain of the person she was talking to, and was very empathetic.

She was proceeded in death by her father Larry Slaughter. She is survived by her husband Daniel Joskiewich, her children Braden Glasson, Jared Glasson, Nichola Joskiewich and Toni Joskiewich. Her grandchildren Jaidyn Glasson, Haeden Glasson and Avery Glasson. She is also survived by her mother June Slaughter, and siblings Anna-Marie George, Sheri Slaughter Cowley, Shondell Slaughter Sanders, Jeff Slaughter, Steven Slaughter and Randell Slaughter

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 20^th at the Winsteads' Funeral Home, 500 Wildcat Drive Portland, TX 78374.
