Vance Dawson, Jr.

Vance, Paw, Old Man, Mr. Dawson, Mr. D, or what ever other names this man might have gone by... passed away July 27th, 2021 at 11:21 am.

Vance Dawson Jr was brought into this world by Vance Dawson Sr and Annabelle Shipman in Carlsbad, New Mexico April 22nd, 1930.

He is survived by his sister, Polly Dawson, her son Sam Stahl, Grandson Vance Dawson Iv and his wife Nina Dawson. Great Grandkids, Amber Dawson, Vance "Bubba" Dawson V, Hunter Dawson & Justin Ruiz. As well as Great GREAT grandkids, Beau and Bella Dawson & Blair Ruiz.

He moved to Coleman, TX around 1938ish where he completed some education. Every year, he would go back for a reunion to catch up with old friends and classmates.

It wasn't until 1953 that Vance Dawson Jr moved to Portland, TX and has resided ever since. He was married to Jean Lemoine and they had their first and only son, Vance "Pawpaw" Dawson III. Together Vance Jr and Vance III opened up Dawson Pipe and Cable which still has its doors open and is a successful business today.

Vance Jr was a father, grandfather, great grandfather,  great great grandfather, teacher, best friend, trucker, as well as the biggest foodie and gambler on this planet.

We would like to let every one know that the viewing will be held at Winsteads' / Limbaugh Funeral Home located at 500 Wildcat in Portland TX 78374 on Sunday, August 1st, 2021 from 2pm - 6pm. We ask that everyone respects the family's wishes of wearing a mask when inside the funeral home.

Burial of Vance Dawson Jr will be Monday, August 2nd, 2021 at 10am and will be held at the Palms Memorial Garden . He will be buried by his wife, Jean, and son, Vance Dawson III.
