Wanda Lee Box

Beloved Wanda Lee Box (62) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 17th, 2024. 

Wanda was born March 31st, 1962, in Victoria, Texas to parents Harvey and Iris (White) Baker. Wanda attended Gregory Portland High and graduated in the year of 1980. During her youth she was very active in the church and enjoyed her time with “all the neighborhood kids.” This included spending time with her older sister, Margaret Hall and younger brother, Kenneth Baker. 

Wanda married Howard Wayne Box, of Taft, Texas on March 14th, 1980. They began growing their family in Portland, Texas on September 13th, 1984, when their first son Christopher Wayne Box was born. On May 6th, 1992, their second son Brandon Lee Box was born. Wanda and Howard were married 37 years before Howard was called home by Our Lord in 2017. 

While the Box’s lived in Portland, Wanda devoted her kindness by caring for children by working as a special education assistant for the Gregory Portland School District.

Wanda found happiness in crafting. She loved to share her ideas with others by hosting numerous scrapbooking parties. Wanda truly enjoyed watching her two boys in their sporting events as they too attended the Gregory Portland School District. Wanda’s love and smile came to light when spending time with family and friends, specifically her six grandchildren. She would bless her “grand babies” with her gracious smile and hugs every chance she could. 

Wanda was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Baker and husband, Howard Box. She is survived by her mother (Iris); sister (Margaret) and husband (David); brother (Kenneth); son (Christopher) and daughter in law (Cassie); son (Brandon) and daughter in law (Ashleigh); her six grandchildren, Baily, Jax, Brianne, Kolton, Kadon, and Kinzleigh.

Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am on Friday November 22nd, 2024 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home Portland Texas. Services will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Friday November 22nd, 2024 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home. There will be a procession departing at approximately 12:45 PM to follow at the Palms Memorial Gardens.
