William Henry (Bill) Douglas, age 80, passed away at home in Lagarto, Texas on August 10, 2022, with his wife Linda Douglas, family, and friends by his side. Bill was born on April 17, 1942 in Bryan, Texas to Charles and Helen (Ross) Douglas. He grew up in Brownsville, Texas. He was retired from Continental Trailways/Greyhound Lines, Inc., after 38 years as a driver and instructor. Bill was an Army veteran, having served in the 32nd degree Mason, and was also a past member of the Al-Amin Shrine Temple of Corpus Christi, Texas, for the Lodge #1133 of Mathis, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Douglas of Lagarto, Texas; his son Billy (Amie) Douglas of Victoria, Texas; his brother Charles (Barbara) Douglas of Henderson, Texas and sister Helen Archer of Fairbanks, Alaska. He is also survived by step-children; Brentt Schichtel of Buckley, Michigan; Nannette (Wade) Martin of Agua Dulce, Texas; Bryan (Makita) Schichtel of McKinney, Texas, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. The service is open to family and friends. The burial will be performed at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pastor Phil Allman of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Orange Grove for his spiritual support. The family would also like to thank Norma and Stacey of Del Cielo Home Health care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations in Bill's memory be gifted to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Orange Grove, PO Box 605, Orange Grove, Texas 78372.
